A&M Commerce Admissions Office

At Texas A&M University-Commerce, our goal is to be a world-class institution of higher learning. We provide various admissions, enrollment and financial aid options for students looking to begin their college journey on our campus.

Our institutional scholarships are awarded to new, first-time freshmen and may be combined with honors college or donor funded scholarships. Furthermore, we provide a guaranteed tuition plan for incoming undergraduates.

Admission Requirements

A&M Commerce is a public college that accepts both freshmen and transfers, as well as international students. Its tuition rate of $450 per credit hour for Texas residents and $939 per credit hour for out-of-state students makes it an affordable option for those pursuing graduate degrees.

At A&M Commerce, they accept high school diplomas and GED certificates as well as SAT and ACT scores. While applicants are encouraged to submit their test scores, it is not a requirement.

Transfer students who have successfully completed 12 semester hours of academic work at a regionally accredited college or university after high school graduation (excluding the summer immediately following graduation) can apply for admission as freshmen.

On all transferrable college course work, a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 is expected. However, the exact equivalency of certain courses may differ based on the University’s assessment of their content and program offerings.

Transfer Admissions

Transfer admissions are an integral component of the college application process. They can help you gain acceptance to an institution that best meets your academic and personal objectives.

Students considering transferring should ensure the schools they’re considering provide services tailored for transfer students. These could include a designated counselor or advisor, orientation sessions tailored toward transfer students, and student support services.

The initial step in the transfer process is to fill out a transfer application, which is very similar to first-year applications. You’ll need to submit transcripts, extracurriculars, essays, recommendations from your high school teachers and other documents as part of this step.

Your high school grade point average, SAT or ACT scores and intended major are also taken into account when reviewing your application. Many transfer colleges are test optional, meaning you have the freedom to submit a standardized test score or not.

Special Program Admissions

Special Program Admissions is open to students interested in one of A&M-Commerce’s special programs who meet the admissions requirements. These options include Honors College, Weekend College, Washington Semester and more.

Students interested in this special program must complete a special application through the Future Eagle Portal. Applications are reviewed under a test-optional policy, meaning no admission decision will be affected if students do not submit official SAT or ACT test scores.

In order to apply, students must submit an official high school transcript and GED/HiSET equivalent, as well as all official transcripts from previous colleges attended. Furthermore, students may request that SAT or ACT test scores be taken into consideration; however, this is not required and will not affect the application process.

Once accepted, students must attend New Student Orientation to become acquainted with campus services and resources. This program is mandatory for all freshmen and transfer students; it’s an excellent opportunity to network with faculty, staff, current students, as well as learn about various organizations on campus.

Military Admissions

Many military service members who had to interrupt their education for military service face difficulty enrolling in college. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to make the process go more smoothly.

First, determine if your military training counts towards college credit. If it does, then check to see if your college offers CLEP exams that award credit for this experience and training.

Additionally, you will require a letter of recommendation from your supervisor or commanding officer. Asking your superior for this letter is essential as it offers an invaluable perspective to your application.

The admissions office can provide you with a checklist of what’s typically required for military applicants and veteran students.

Additionally, the A&M Commerce Admissions office will meet with you to learn more about your goals and how we can assist. We provide assistance with application processes, financial aid packages, as well as any other issues experienced by veterans or military students that arise.
