Around 10500 students have been granted this option. In order to secure admission at TAMU, those chosen must attend a System Institution and earn a certain number of credit hours each semester.
The PSA is administered by eight system institutions: Tarleton, A&M Corpus Christi, West Texas A&M, Prairie View, Houston Baptist, Southwest Houston and San Jacinto colleges. Unfortunately, some students may not be able to earn the number of credits required by their PSA.
Some PSA students may discover the courses available at their System Institution are insufficient to match what TAMU requires for their major. In such cases, students would likely have to switch majors and go through the regular transfer admission process.
As a PSA student, you cannot change your major until the end of your second semester at the System Institution. However, if you have earned a 3.0 GPA and are taking courses required for that change of major, then that may be possible.
Students wishing to pursue a particular major but aren’t admitted to TAMU have another option: Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn-Bryan Campus. Through this co-enrollment program, selected engineering students can complete their first two years of study at Blinn College-Bryan Campus before transferring into a Texas A&M Engineering degree program through the Texas A&M University-Blinn TEAM program.
Important points to consider include that there is no guarantee of admission into a particular major and you must pay required tuition and fees at both Blinn College and TAMU. You will need to coordinate your course schedule between these schools in order to avoid time conflicts.
